In 2021, Wombat supported Lab’bel for Collector Box #8 created by Rosemarie Trockel. For this edition, the artist designed three boxes with abstract tricolor patterns (blue, red, white)—echoing both the traditional box and the French flag. These evocative patterns subtly suggest the outline of a cow’s head without explicitly depicting it. One version takes a realistic silhouette, while the others lean toward symbolic or abstract forms. Here, Trockel explores the notion of “motif,” repetition, and pattern, both as a visual form and as a social structure—while blurring the line between commercial object and artwork.
